Halfway into my year at RBA I have already done so much. Since the last blog post I have had more opportunity to work on more varied projects. In December I carried out an attended survey at Old Spitalfields Market. It was great absorbing the atmosphere of the Christmas market and I was able to get some great food in one of London’s most fashionable areas.
I was also asked to assist with some attended vibration surveys, something I was completely unfamiliar with previously. For the first survey, we headed to the site near the ExCel centre and was shown how to set up the accelerometer up. Once this was done it was time to wait for some DLR trains to pass. The next site was out in Erith in far east London, where I was able to set up the accelerometer with ease and wait for trains to pass. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to see a freight train more!
Just before the end of the year we had our RBA Christmas party. This year we all went for a meal at Nuala on Old Street. The food was fantastic and I really enjoyed the company of everyone at RBA. We moved our way to the pub across the road and spent the rest of the night having fun. It was a really great way to end my first six months at RBA.
