Project Overview
Ravensbourne is a university sector college split over 6 open-plan floors that create a transparent learning space that meets the shifting demands of 21st century learners. The building also houses a large dedicated lecture theatre, television studio and numerous digital media and sound studios.

RBA Acoustics were appointed to provide input on all items related to acoustics, noise and vibration. The client requirement for open plan teaching areas to maximise the usability of the spaces, combined with an exposed concrete soffit, required detailed analysis of the acoustic environment.
In order to provide a functional open plan learning environment, a number of differing options for acoustic absorption were assessed in order to maximise the efficiency of the building acoustics and adequate noise control.
The building was short-listed for the Public Building of the Year Category in the 2011 Building Magazine awards and is a winner in the RIBA Awards for London 2011.
