Project Overview
RBA Acoustics undertook a detailed acoustic feasibility study for a new PureGym site proposed within a 1st floor unit at Bicester Shopping Park in Bicester. The Gym is located at first floor level within a 2 storey retail building, above a number of retail units and restaurants across the ground floor.

Detailed acoustic feasibility testing was undertaken within the unit. The tests involved measurements of radiated noise and vibration impacts on the adjacent spaces from dropping of weights, and determining the nature and extent of acoustic flooring treatments required to mitigate impacts from the adjoining uses.
Due to the nature of the structural slab between the floors, the acoustic impacts were very high. RBA Acoustics engaged with specialist floating floor suppliers to derive specifications for full concrete floating floors across the Gym activity areas, in addition to specialist flooring treatments, to mitigate the impacts upon the retail and restaurants beneath the Gym.
