RBA Acoustics

Great Eastern Buildings

Project Overview

Great Eastern Buildings, located in Hackney E8 is a mixed use development comprising 18 residential units which are split over 5 storeys. The building structure is formed of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) which presented unusual challenges when it came to partition sound insulation design.

Through review of the detailed design, RBA Acoustics provided advice to the project team in order to ensure enhanced target sound insulation levels were achieved.

Cited directly adjacent to a railway viaduct, airborne and ground-borne noise intrusion into the development was also initially a concern.

RBA Acoustics undertook measurements of noise and vibration around the site prior to development to determine the necessary noise mitigation measures, to protect future occupants of the building.
