This year’s Croonian Lecture, entitled ‘Now You Hear It, Now You Don’t: The Neuroscience of Deafness’, expertly exemplified how many physiological and psychological factors contribute to our response to noise.
One of our consultants was lucky enough to get a ticket to the sold-out Royal Society event to see Professor Jonathan F. Ashmore, Croonian Medallist 2017, present his findings regards the understanding of inner ear physiology.
If you wish to watch it, the lecture is now available online here
Our role as consultants is often to protect against adverse reactions to noise and prevent damage to the auditory system. This lecture enables us to appreciate how important our work can be to health due to the demonstration of the delicate nature of the inner ear and the psychological responses to noise.
