We have been putting BS 4142:2014 Methods for rating and assessing industrial and commercial sound to good use on a variety of recent projects in the Midlands and north of England recently, having assessed noise generated by a number of industrial complexes and the potential noise impact they may have on existing and future residents in nearby areas.
The noise sources included vehicular movements around the sites, noise breakout from factory buildings as well as the loading and unloading of goods.
As part of the assessment we have been considering both the subjective and objective methods of rating noise outlined in BS 4142:2014 and relating this to local and national planning legislation and guidance.
From our detailed assessments and working closely with our clients, we have developed various strategies to reduce the level of noise experienced in the surrounding sensitive areas.
