Vibration Assessment

The effects of vibration can have significant implications on the design of a building in terms of structural integrity, occupant comfort and re-radiated noise.  For proposed developments adjacent to sources of vibration such as railway lines, it is important to survey existing vibration levels so as to determine any potential impact at the earliest opportunity.  Where adverse effects of vibration are predicted mitigation can be developed, either by the rezoning of the development, the construction of trenches, alternative construction methods or building isolation.

We do appreciate that the decision to adopt building isolation design or other remedial works is costly, both in financial and programme terms. We can therefore provide audio simulation of predicted re-radiated noise levels in proposed developments to assist our clients’ decisions.
