Sound Insulation Testing

RBA Acoustics have undertaken approximately 10 000 individual pre-completion sound insulation tests through our involvement on over 1500 residential projects.  It is therefore fair to say that we are one of the leading sound insulation testing organisations in the UK.

From our extensive experience of sound insulation testing, we have acquired a huge database of test results which is regularly reviewed to influence other areas of our consultancy work and the ongoing education of our consultants.

We also understand the impact of sound insulation testing on a construction site and the difficulties in achieving acceptable test conditions at a time when all trades are trying to complete their remaining tasks.  We will therefore arrange with the site manager the most appropriate time to undertake the testing so as to minimise disruption to any ongoing site works whilst ensuring accurate conditions for acoustic testing.  This decision making is of even more importance where sound insulation testing is required to show compliance with improved acoustic standards for credits associated with the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Accreditation

RBA Acoustics are accredited to undertake pre-completion tests under the Association of Noise Consultants’ (ANC) Approved Document E Registration Scheme.  This scheme is approved by Communities and Local Government (CLG) and referred to in Approved Document E (2004) of the Building Regulations.  Member organisations, along with individual registered testers, are regularly audited to ensure the testing, analysis and reporting of pre-completion tests is undertaken to accepted standards and therefore full confidence can be placed in the results achieved.
