Licensing

The changes to the Licensing Act to permit 24 hour drinking were much publicised.  In actual fact, any premises wishing to extend opening hours are still required to submit an application to the Local Authority.  A detailed acoustic report is a vital part of this application as noise is one of the main considerations of the Local Authority in terms of noise from music break-out and patron access and egress to the premises.

RBA have extensive experience of working with legal teams to undertake acoustic assessments in support of applications for new venues and extended opening hours for existing premises.  We have also worked on numerous cases where venues have been subject to license review hearings or there are complaints from neighbours in order to ensure operation of the premises without disruption.  This may include advising on how to improve sound insulation of venues or the input into the venue management plan and dispersal policies.  We regularly undertake in-house noise limiter setting and the provision of calibration certificates.
