Student Living

The design and build of student accommodation can present acoustical challenges as the minimum standards of Building Regulations still apply across walls and floors between student units.  We have gained considerable knowledge of the modular style construction methods often employed in Student Accommodation projects through our extensive residential experience and refurbishment of existing buildings for student use

Case Studies

Moonraker Alley
(Ongoing)

UNITE is currently constructing new student accommodation at Great Suffolk Street in London SE1. During the procurement process, RBA Acoustics were commissioned by Unite to undertake noise surveying around the development site which has led to our appointment as acoustic consultant for the rest of the project.

Wedgewood Court
(September 2010)

Wedgewood Court is situated on Holloway Road providing modern student accommodation for those studying at London Metropolitan University’s North Campus. RBA Acoustics were employed by Unite to provide input on all items related to acoustic issues.

Woburn Place
(2008)

Located on Russell Square, Woburn Place offers students a variety of rooms minutes away from some of the London’s most famous attractions. Originally built as an office block in the 1930’s and with a overall project delivery time of 52 weeks the conversion proposed a series of acoustic challenges.
