Battersea Reach is an award winning riverside development overlooking the Thames. The project involves a series of waterfront buildings comprising of approximately 1000 high quality residential units and over 30,000 sq. ft of commercial space with cafés, bars, leisure facilities & restaurants. RBA Acoustics were appointed by St George South London on Phase 1 in 2003 and have been providing acoustic advice on all phases of the development since.
The site could be described as being one of the noisiest you could encounter, affected not only by traffic noise from the busy York and Wandsworth Bridge Roads, but also from helicopter movements associated with the nearby Battersea Heliport. RBA has provided acoustic advice on all elements of the external building fabric to ensure noise ingress from these environmental noise sources is adequately controlled for such a quality development. Many of the blocks comprise curtain walling and RBA has been responsible for specifying and reviewing various curtain walling packages to ensure the acoustic required performance is achieved.
RBA has also provided acoustic advice on the internal fabric to ensure Part E/ CSH compliance of the separating walls and floors between flats and to ensure an adequate level of acoustic separation between the sensitive residential units and noise generating commercial units.
To date, the development has an estimated total project value of £350m and it's 1840 units are due to be completed in 2022.
