Acoustic consultancy relating to cultural buildings and spaces includes much more than just concert hall and auditorium design. At RBA we are also involved in the control of internal and external noise at museums and other culturally significant buildings as well as room acoustic design; often finding a balance between preserving the aesthetics and history of a building with ensuring that the end product is in line with client expectation.
As a major part of the larger regeneration of Parkland Gateway in Northamptonshire, the Corby Cube forms the civic heart of the town, encompassing the majority of local services and providing a hub for cultural and leisure activity. RBA Acoustics were appointed with a full design brief. The Core theatre provided the major acoustic design issue, requiring not only complex room acoustic design, but high levels of sound insulation to allow the multi-function building to operate simultaneously.
Originally built in the 17th-century, Kensington Palace is an official residence to the British Royal Family. RBA Acoustics were appointed to investigate environmental noise emissions from the boiler plant room which at night were causing sleep disturbance to the occupants.
